Suzie Powell-Ross is an American track and field athlete who has earned numerous medals and titles throughout her long sporting career. She was born on September 3, 1976, in Modesto, California. Specializing in discus throwing, Powell-Ross began her journey in athletics from a young age.

Early Life and Career

Suzie Powell-Ross started her athletic journey under the guidance of her father, McIntosh Powell, who became her main coach. Initially, she trained as a runner, but her performance plateaued during her middle school years. Recognizing the need for a change, Powell suggested that Suzie try her hand at discus throwing.

Over the course of several years of intense training, Suzie Powell-Ross achieved outstanding results. She emerged as one of the leading track and field athletes in her school and consistently secured top positions in school championships. Alongside her pursuit of track and field, Suzie also played basketball and was a key player on her school team, reaching the finals of state championships.

In 1994, Powell-Ross graduated from high school and subsequently enrolled at the University of California. In 1999, she earned a college degree.


Throughout her illustrious career, Suzie Powell-Ross has collected numerous medals and titles. In 1995, she emerged victorious in the Pan American Junior Championship. Additionally, she claimed victory in the U.S. Junior Championship in 1993, 1994, and 1995.
