Early Life and Education
Svetlana Nechey-Soroka, a distinguished Ukrainian artist, was born on May 15, 1948, in Vinnitsa, Ukraine. Daughter of artist Arkady Soroka and wife of renowned painter Stepan Nechey, she inherited a passion for art from an early age. In 1964, she graduated from the Vinnitsa Children's Art School. From 1968 to 1973, she pursued architectural studies at the Kyiv Art Institute under the tutelage of esteemed professors such as Ivan Krasny, Semen Markin, Yuri Chekanyuk, and Boris Priymak.
Career in Architecture and Art
Following her graduation, Svetlana worked as an architect at the Ternopole branch of the "Gipromgratzdan-tsivilprombud" design institute from 1973-1975. However, her artistic aspirations led her to explore watercolor painting at the Ternopole Art Combine of the Ukrainian Art Fund in 1975. She established her residence at 26 Knyazya Ostronskoho Street, apartment 25, in Ternopole, where she currently resides and creates in her hometown of Vinnitsa. As an accomplished artist, Svetlana actively participates in art events organized by the Vinnitsa Regional Organization of the National Union of Artists of Ukraine.
Artistic Style and Notable Works
Svetlana Nechey-Soroka's artistic expression primarily revolves around watercolor painting. Her subjects range from evocative still lifes to vibrant landscapes and expressive portraits. Among her notable works are:

Since 1979, Svetlana has consistently participated in regional, zonal, and all-Ukrainian exhibitions, showcasing her works in cities across Ukraine, including Ternopole, Lviv, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, and Kharkiv. Her art has also been exhibited internationally in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Penza (Russia), and Sliven (Bulgaria).
Svetlana's solo exhibitions have been held in Ternopole (1991, 1998, 2003), Kyiv ("Kolo" Gallery, 2008), Vinnitsa (2016, 2018), featuring watercolor and oil paintings. In 2008, she launched a catalog exhibition showcasing her diverse works.
International Pléneres
Svetlana has actively participated in painting workshops and pléneres since 1984. Her journeys have taken her to picturesque locations both within Ukraine and abroad, including:
