Biography of Svetlana Orlova
Svetlana Orlova, a Russian actress, first appeared on the big screen in 1970 in the role of Marinka in the children's film "Khutorok v stepi" (The Village in the Steppe), directed by Boris Bunev. She was born and raised in Alma-Ata, where she showed her creative talents from a young age. Svetlana studied ballet at the Palace of Culture in Alma-Ata and later continued her education at the Choreographic School of the Bolshoi Theater, graduating in 1974. After two years with the dance ensemble "Estradnye Uzory," Svetlana began performing on contract. However, even at that time, the world of cinema had already firmly entered her life.
In 1970, Svetlana Orlova made her debut on the big screen in the role of Marinka in the children's film "Khutorok v stepi" (The Village in the Steppe), based on the novel by V. Kataev. This was followed by roles in dramatic films such as "Vchera, segodnya i vsegda" (Yesterday, Today, and Forever) as Anyuta and "Poslednyaya vstrecha" (The Last Meeting) as Anya Zadorozhnaya. The actress captivated audiences with her youthful beauty, sincerity, charm, and incredibly expressive eyes. She seemed to be made for children's films and fairy tales, and such roles did not take long to come. In 1975, she starred in the fairy tale film "Finist - Yasny sokol" (Finist, the Brave Falcon) directed by Gennady Vasilyev, in which she played the role of Alenushka. It was then that our famous fairy-tale director, Boris Rytsarev, noticed her. In his film "Printsessa na goroshine" (The Princess and the Pea), based on the works of Hans Christian Andersen, Svetlana Orlova played one of the leading roles - the Princess. Her character sighed and marveled at everything delicate and sublime, and then bowed before the rough animal strength of a gallant knight. Svetlana Orlova became one of the favorite actresses of this director and appeared in several more of his films: "Podarok chernogo kolduna" (The Gift of the Black Magician) as Devitsa, "Ledyanaya vnučka" (The Icy Granddaughter) as Lyuba, "Uchenik lekarya" (The Doctor's Apprentice) as a court lady, and "Vozmi menya s soboy" (Take Me With You) as Alena. Svetlana Orlova appeared in many films in the 1970s and 1980s, and from 1979, she was an actress at the Gorky Film Studio. However, much to her regret, she often received supporting roles or cameos, even though her beauty blossomed with age. One of her rare leading roles was as Alla Kasyanova, an ice ballet soloist, in the musical film "Letnie gastrol'" (Summer Tour). She is also known for her role as Lidochka Yurieva in the film-play "Provintsialnaya istoriya" (Provincial Story). Among her other works are Nina in the detective film "Ubity pri ispolnenii" (Killed During Performance), Maika in the melodrama "Perehodny vozrast" (Transitional Age), the Snow Queen in the children's film "Udivitelnye priklyucheniya Denisa Korableva" (The Amazing Adventures of Denis Korablyov), Sister Anastasia in the military comedy "Smotri v oba" (Watch Out for Both Sides), and Svetlana in the lyrical comedy "Zhenatyi kholostyak" (Married Bachelor).
With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Svetlana Orlova (like many other Russian actors) found herself unwanted by the film industry. She only returned to the screen a decade later, appearing in a cameo role in the drama film "Pravda o shchelpakh" (The Truth about Shchelpy), directed by Alexey Muradov.
