Sylvie Meis, also known as Sylvie Van der Vaart, is a Dutch model and television presenter. She was born on April 13, 1978, in Breda, a major city in the province of Noord-Brabant, Netherlands. Standing at a height of 158 cm, she is a petite blonde with gray-blue eyes and is represented by the agency 'ANC Model Management'.

At the age of 18, Meis decided that she wanted to become a model and started attending various casting agencies for photo shoots. She gained popularity through her work on FoxKids and the music channel TMF. She hosted several TMF events, including the annual TMF awards ceremony, and interviewed international artists such as Britney Spears and Kylie Minogue. Meis also appeared in music videos and a Dutch television series called 'Costa'. She represented the jewelry line 'Pure by Sylvie' in the Dutch market and hosted the '2008 FIFA World Player of the Year' ceremony.

After their marriage, Sylvie took her husband's surname, Van der Vaart.

When Rafael transferred to Hamburger SV in Germany in 2005, the couple moved to Germany together. In 2008, they relocated to Spain after Rafael joined Real Madrid. Since 2008, Sylvie has been a judge on the German version of the talent show 'Got Talent' called 'Das Supertalent'. She also participated in the third season of the German version of 'Strictly Come Dancing' called 'Let's Dance'.

On April 28, 2006, Sylvie and Rafael welcomed their first child, Damian Rafael. Despite being compared to the Beckhams by some journalists, the couple always denies such claims and expresses their desire for a normal life.

In June 2009, Sylvie announced that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and had undergone surgery in May. She then underwent post-operative chemotherapy, and the cancer went into remission. During this time, Rafael chose to stay in Madrid as Sylvie received treatment. A year later, when Sylvie's health improved, Rafael returned to football and played for Tottenham Hotspur in England.
