Early Life and Career in Trade

Soviet and Kazakh Economist

Born in Soviet Kazakhstan, the economist embarked on his career as a trade worker. From 1957, he labored as a fitter at the Karaganda Coal Combine. Subsequently, he progressed through various roles within the "Kaztorg одежда" and "Kazmyasomoltorg" trade organizations, eventually becoming director of a self-supporting store and deputy director of the October District Food Trade.

In 1969, he graduated from the Correspondence Institute of Soviet Trade with a degree in "Commodity Expert-Economist."

Rise in the Trade Sector

Directorial Positions

His expertise in trade led to his appointment as director of the Karaganda City Food Trade and Karaganda City Industrial Trade in 1973-1977. He then served as head of the Trade Administration of the Jezkazgan Regional Executive Committee.

Republican-Level Leadership

In 1979, he became head of the Republican Office of "Kazmyasomoltorg." Two years later, he возглавил the Trade Administration of the Alma-Ata City Executive Committee.

He reached the pinnacle of his career in the trade sector from 1983-1988 as First Deputy Minister of Trade of the Kazakh SSR. This was followed by his appointment as General Director of the Republican Association "Kazakhintorg" (1988-1990).

Minister of Foreign Economic Relations

In 1990, he was appointed Chairman of the Kazakh SSR State Committee on Foreign Economic Relations. From December 1990 to June 1994, he held the post of Minister of Foreign Economic Relations of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Deputy Prime Minister

Concurrently, he served as Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan from June 1993 to June 1994.

Other Diplomatic and Administrative Positions

After his tenure as foreign economic relations minister, he held positions as Managing Director of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Kazakhstan (June 1994), Consul General of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Frankfurt am Main (1995), and Managing Director of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan (1996).

Family and Legacy

The economist was the uncle of Sara Alpysovna Nazarbayeva, the wife of Kazakhstan's first president, Nursultan Nazarbayeva.

Order of Kurmet
He was awarded the Order of Kurmet in 1996.
