Early Life and Career
Ryuhei Kitamura was born in Osaka, Japan on November 30, 1969. He developed a passion for filmmaking at a young age and studied at the Osaka University of Arts. After graduating, he worked as an assistant director for several Japanese films before making his feature film debut in 1997 with "Versailles."
Breakthrough with "Versus"
Kitamura gained international recognition in 2000 with the release of his action-horror film "Versus." The film's unique blend of graphic violence, fast-paced action, and stylish visuals earned it a cult following.
