Talia Shire is an American actress, producer, and director. She was born on April 25, 1946, in Lake Success, Long Island, USA. She is the daughter of Italia Pennino Coppola and arranger and composer Carmine Coppola. Talia's name was given to her as a sign of respect for her Italian heritage. She is the sister of director and producer Francis Ford Coppola, the aunt of actor Nicolas Cage and director Sofia Coppola, and the niece of composer Anton Coppola. She was married to composer David Shire, with whom she has a son, Matthew Orlando Shire. Talia also has two other sons, actor and musician Jason Schwartzman and Robert Carmine, from her second marriage to producer Jack Schwartzman, who passed away on June 15, 1994.
Rise to Fame and Career
Talia Shire gained recognition for her role as Connie Corleone in Francis Ford Coppola's critically acclaimed crime saga "The Godfather" in 1972, as well as in the subsequent sequels of the film. She later portrayed Adrian Pennino, the girlfriend, and later wife, of boxer Rocky Balboa, played by the world-renowned actor Sylvester Stallone, in the film "Rocky" and its four sequels. Shire appears in the final film of the franchise in retrospective scenes from previous installments. She became good friends with actor Burt Young, with whom she co-starred in "Rocky".
Talia Shire has appeared in films such as "The Dunwich Horror", "Maxie", "Gas!", "Man on the Moon", "Catch Me If You Can", "The Supernaturals", "Cold Heaven", "Breakfast with Einstein", "Father, Son & Mistress".
