Timur Sapir, the founder and owner of the Sapir Organization, is an American billionaire who immigrated to the United States from Georgia. Born in 1948 in Tbilisi, Timur's parents were not wealthy. His father was a major in the Soviet armed forces.

Timur studied journalism at Tbilisi University but did not complete his degree due to leaving the country. During his student years, Timur had to earn money to support his family as his father had passed away, leaving them without a breadwinner.
