Early Life and Entrepreneurial Beginnings

Cameron Herold, a renowned Canadian entrepreneur, writer, and speaker, was born in Toronto and raised in Greater Sudbury, Canada. Entrepreneurialism runs deep in his family, with his brother and sister owning businesses and several previous generations making their mark in the field. His parents instilled in him a strong sense of independence and a drive to create his own path.

Business Ventures and Franchise Growth

Herold's entrepreneurial journey began with a license plate frame business. Later, while pursuing post-secondary education at Carleton University, he partnered with the painting franchise College Pro. His responsibilities included managing paint and supplies, marketing, and payroll. This experience laid a foundation for his understanding of business operations and the potential to leverage others.

By the age of 20, Herold had become a successful businessman with 10 employees. After graduating, he continued to expand the franchise, opening locations across Canada and the Pacific Northwest. He left the franchise in 1994 with over 400 employees under his management.

Franchise Development and Expansion

Herold's expertise in franchise development led him to join Boyd Autobody in 1994, where he served as Vice President of Franchise Development for four years. The company experienced a threefold increase in size during his tenure. Subsequently, he moved to ubarter.com as Vice President of Corporate Development and helped expand the company into the United States.

In 2000, Herold returned to Canada. He met Brian Scudamore, founder of the junk removal franchise 1-800-GOT-JUNK?, whom he had previously known through the Young Entrepreneurs' Organization. Using a bold franchise strategy initiated by Herold, the company expanded to over 330 locations within six years.

Herold implemented the "Starbucks Model," where he developed a cult-like corporate culture that fostered employee loyalty and profit sharing. He also introduced transparency in financial reporting and a unique compensation system that rewarded employees for saving on travel expenses.

Consulting and Corporate Culture

In 2007, Herold established a consulting firm for entrepreneurs. He worked with companies such as Fairway Divorce Solutions, Nurse-Next-Door, and I Love Rewards, providing guidance on franchise development and operational efficiency.

Herold is passionate about the importance of corporate culture in driving business growth. He believes that creating an engaging and fulfilling work environment is crucial for building a successful enterprise.

Authorship and Recognition

In 2011, Herold authored the book "Double Double," where he shared practical advice for entrepreneurs seeking to double the size of their businesses. The book received positive reviews for its actionable insights.

In 2014, the International Dyslexia Foundation awarded Herold the Pinnacle Award for his contributions to raising awareness of dyslexia and ADHD and serving as a role model for individuals with learning differences.
