Taras Antipovych: Ukrainian Genre-Bending Fantasist
Taras Antipovych, a Ukrainian prose writer and screenwriter, has carved a niche for himself in various subgenres of fantasy literature.
Early Life and Education
Born and raised in Poltava, Ukraine, Antipovych earned his degree in journalism from Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.
Journalistic Career
Before venturing into fiction, Antipovych honed his writing skills as a journalist. He worked for several Ukrainian publications, including "Postup" and "Gazeta po-Kyivski," and served as First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of "Sovremennost."
Literary Debut and Accolades
Antipovych's debut novel, "Mizerya" (2007), earned him recognition at the All-Ukrainian "Book of the Year" competition as the best prose debut. This work explored the potential evolution of individual life space in the future.
Exploration of Futurity
Antipovych's focus on the future is evident in his subsequent works. His anthology of short stories, "Telo i sudba" (2008), emphasized the expressive imagery of the future to enhance the understanding of the present. This preoccupation with futurity continues in his novel "Chronos" (2011).
Literary Success
