Early Life and Career

Taras Duray is a Ukrainian footballer who plays as a defender for FC Sumy. He began his football career in Ternopil, where he was trained by Vladimir Filippov. In November 1998, he played one game each for SDYUSHOR Uzhgorod and FC Karpaty Lviv in the DYuFL.

Joining FC Nyva Ternopil

In 2001, Duray joined the main team of FC Nyva Ternopil but did not appear in any games. He subsequently moved to Sokil Berezhany.

Return to FC Nyva Ternopil

In the winter of 2003, Duray returned to FC Nyva Ternopil. He made his debut for the team on April 5, 2003, in a match against FC Naftovyk-Ukrnafta Dovbush (0-2). After Lyubomyr Vovchuk's retirement, Duray became captain of the team at the age of 22.

Trials and Transfer to FC Zorya

In the summer of 2008, Duray went on trial with FC Karpaty Lviv but did not sign a contract. In the winter of 2009, he joined FC Zorya Luhansk after impressing on trial.

Premier League Debut and Incident

Duray made his Ukrainian Premier League debut on March 14, 2009, in a match against FC Metalurh Donetsk (3-0). In a match against FC Dynamo Kyiv on September 25, 2009, he accidentally struck Andriy Shevchenko in the face with his elbow, causing an injury.

Later Career

Duray returned to FC Nyva Ternopil for the 2014-2015 season. In 2016, he became a free agent following the dissolution of the Ternopil team. He briefly played for FC Neman Grodno in Belarus before returning to FC Sumy in 2017.
