Biography of Tatev Abrahamyan
Tatev Abrahamyan is an American chess player and prodigy, widely regarded as one of the most outstanding young chess players in America. She was born in Yerevan, Armenia and currently resides in Glendale, California, United States.
Early Interest in Chess
Tatev first started playing chess at the age of 8, when she witnessed her father playing a game. Intrigued by the unusual game, she developed a keen interest in it. Her father took her to the Chess Olympiad, which further strengthened her fascination with chess. Soon after, Tatev began taking lessons and participating in chess competitions. Even after moving to the United States, she continued playing chess.
Chess Career
For some time, Tatev trained with a private coach and competed in various tournaments. She even attempted to qualify for the American Olympic team, but was unsuccessful. However, experts agree that her extraordinary abilities make her a promising candidate for future Olympic competitions. Not only does Abrahamyan possess exceptional logical thinking skills, but she also excels at controlling her emotions. In intellectual games like chess, even the slightest change in mood can have a significant impact.
Achievements
In 2011, Tatev graduated from California State University Long Beach with a dual degree in psychology and political science. For her, the most important aspect of the game is the battle of ideas and the opportunity to invent new strategies and tactics. Each championship makes her stronger as she studies and carefully considers the tactics of other players.
In 2004, Abrahamyan participated in the World Youth Championships in Greece and ranked 16th overall. She also competed in the National Championship and reached the final, but was defeated by Rusudan Goletiani, ultimately securing second place. Abrahamyan has consistently performed well in various competitions, including the National Women's Championship of America, where she achieved second place in both 2010 and 2011.
In addition to her notable achievements, Tatev has twice achieved victory against former U.S. champion Alexander Shabalov.
