Tatiana Bestayeva graduated from the renowned All-Russian State Institute of Cinematography (VGIK) in 1961, studying under the guidance of B.V. Bibikov and O.I. Pyzhova. She immediately began her acting career at the Moscow Art Theatre named after A.P. Chekhov, where she had the opportunity to work with legendary actresses such as Faina Ranevskaya, Lyubov Orlova, and Rostislav Plyatt.

In 1985, Bestayeva received the prestigious "Theatrical Spring" award for her remarkable portrayal of Kapa in the play "Widow's Steamer." Tatiana Bestayeva made her film debut in 1958, playing the role of Lena in the musical film "The Sailor from 'Comet'." In the 1960s, she became one of the most beautiful actresses in the Soviet Union, often cast as a foreigner due to her exotic looks. Bestayeva's stunning fashion choices outside the set earned her the nickname of a "stylish person" or a "stylish dandy" among the public.

However, it was her role as Palagna in Georgy Paradzhanov's film "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors" (1964) that brought her extraordinary popularity, especially in the West. In this film, Bestayeva became one of the first Soviet actresses to appear nude on screen.
