Early Life and Tennis Beginnings

Tatiana Maria was born into a tennis-loving family in Bad Saulgau, Germany. Her father, Heinrich, her mother, Margit, and her two brothers, Daniel and Matthias, all played tennis. Tatiana was first introduced to the sport at the tender age of 4 by her parents, and it quickly became her passion.

Professional Tennis Career

Tatiana's professional tennis career began in 2001. She has won one WTA title in doubles and reached the third round of the Australian Open in 2018. Despite her success, Tatiana has faced challenges throughout her career, including a serious lung embolism in 2008.

Medical Battle and Recovery

In March 2008, Tatiana was diagnosed with a lung embolism, a life-threatening condition. She underwent surgery and spent 5.5 months dedicated to treatment and recovery. Through sheer determination and perseverance, Tatiana overcame this setback and returned to the court stronger than ever.

Off-Court Life

Beyond tennis, Tatiana enjoys playing handball. She is fluent in both German and English, and she advocates for awareness of lung embolism and other health issues. Tatiana's family and friends remain her biggest supporters, and she credits their love and care for her success both on and off the court.
