Georgian Revolutionary and Soviet Official

Born in the village of Dabla-Tsikhe to an impoverished nobleman, Grigory Mushegianbecame an active participant in the revolutionary peasant movement in Guria.

Early Political Career

In the early 1900s, Mushegian joined the Russian Social Democratic Labor Party (RSDLP). He faced repressions from the tsarist authorities and played a key role in organizing soldiers' councils in the Caucasus Army during the 1917 February Revolution. After the revolution, he was a member of the Caucasus Regional Committee of the RSDLP(b).

Role in the Civil War and Bolshevik Victory

From 1918 to 1919, Mushegian served on the Ukraine front, holding positions as a member of the Odessa Revolutionary Committee, military commissar and garrison commander in Yelisavetgrad, and military commissar of Odessa. He also participated in preparations for armed uprisings against the Musavatists in Azerbaijan and the Mensheviks in Georgia.

Leadership in Georgia and Death

In 1921-1922, Mushegian became the First Secretary of the Ajarian Regional Committee of the Georgian Communist Party (b) and Chairman of the Revolutionary Committee of Ajaria. Subsequently, he served as the Head of the History of the Party Department of the Georgian Communist Party (b).

On May 24, 1937, Mushegian tragically ended his own life.
