Terri's mother, Ms Minter, was responsible for the fire due to falling asleep without extinguishing her cigarette. At the age of 32, Ms Minter severed all contact with her husband and Terri, burdened by guilt. Terri's father, Paul, stayed by her side through the countless surgeries and sleepless nights. Today, Terri forgives her mother, and Paul is proud of the brave young woman his daughter has become.

Terri's tragic story captured the hearts of millions worldwide, resulting in numerous donations. In 2001, she even met Prince Charles at a charitable event. People such as Tony and Cherie Blair, as well as Victoria Beckham, expressed their admiration for her courage.
