Biography of Terri Clark
Terri Clark (born Terri Lynn Sauson) is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and composer. She was born on August 5, 1968, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Her grandparents were Canadian country musicians, and her mother performed on the folk scene. Clark's parents divorced when she was young, and her mother remarried, giving Terri her last name "Clark". From a young age, Terri dressed like a cowboy, a style she maintained throughout her life.

After graduating from high school, Clark attended Medicine Hat College in Alberta and moved to Nashville in 1987. It was in Nashville that she first showcased her talent as an actress at the club 'Tootsie's Orchid Lounge'.

Early Career
In 1994, Terri signed a record deal with Mercury Records. Her debut single, "Better Things To Do", was released in 1995 and reached the third position on the country charts in the United States and Canada. In the same year, she released her self-titled debut album, which achieved gold status. The album featured several songs written entirely by Terri, including "When Boy Meets Girl" and "If I Were You", which became number one singles in Canada.

In 1996, Terri released her second album, "Just the Same", followed by her third album, "How I Feel", in 1998. The latter included the hit single "You're Easy on the Eyes", which reached number one in both the United States and Canada. Riding on the wave of success, Terri released the album "Fearless", which became a commercial success in Canada.
Later Career
In 2003, Terri released her fifth studio album, "Pain to Kill", which brought back her previous success. The album featured the hit singles "I Just Wanna Be Mad" and "I Wanna Do It All", both reaching the top three on the charts. In the same year, Terri released a compilation album of her best songs from 1994 to 2000.
In 2005, Terri released the album "Life Goes On", and the single "She Didn't Have Time" charted in the United States. Her contract with Mercury Records expired in March 2006, leading her to search for a new label.
In 2008, Mercury Records released "The Definitive Collection", a compilation album of Terri's best songs from her ten years with the company. In the same year, she signed a contract with BNA Records and was set to release her first album on the label, "My Next Life", in April 2008.
Personal Life
Terri was married to manager Greg Kaczor from September 17, 2005, to February 16, 2007. This was her second marriage, as her first marriage to Ted Stevenson lasted from 1991 to 1996. In late September 2005, Terri moved to Vancouver Island, British Columbia.
While recording her album on the BNA label, Terri received the news of her mother's illness. In 2007, her mother was diagnosed with cancer, and despite the ongoing treatment, Terri continued to work on her album, planning to release it in April 2008.
Terri describes her album "Fearless" as her most personal and honest work to date. She stated, "I feel like I'm writing more from my heart now than my head... When I wrote songs for my first album, I was 23-24 years old, almost 10 years ago... The songs I write now come from a woman's perspective rather than a little girl's worldview..."
