Biography of Terry Carr
Terry Carr was an American science fiction writer and publisher, born in Grants Pass, Oregon, USA. He was also known by the pseudonym Norman Edwards. His wife, Carol Carr, is also a science fiction writer, and some of her most famous works include "Some Are Born Cats" (1973, co-authored with Terry Carr), "You Think You've Got Troubles" (1969), and "Magicats!" (1985).
Publishing Career
Carr began his publishing career by working on fanzines such as "Fanac" and "Lighthouse," which eventually led him to pursue professional publishing. In 1960, he had already published several of his own works in the science fiction genre, but his main focus remained on publishing activities.
Ace Books and Freelancing
Carr also worked at Ace Books, where he was involved in the publication of the "Ace Science Fiction Specials," including Ursula K. Le Guin's novel "The Left Hand of Darkness." However, after a conflict with Ace Books, Carr left the company and became a freelancer. He worked on anthologies such as "Universe" and "Best of the Year," which were published from 1972 to 1987. Carr also worked on individual editions in the science fiction genre.
