Formation and Birth of "Season One"

In 2006, Polish producer Patryk Antoniewicz and Canadian rapper Jesse Maxwell crossed paths in Montreal. Their collaboration gave birth to The Jonesz, a hip-hop duo that combined their unique talents. Maxwell, originally from Toronto, had established a presence in Montreal's music scene, performing in various venues before meeting Antoniewicz.

Their shared passion for hip-hop ignited an idea for a collaborative album. The result was "Season One," a 19-track debut released in 2008. The album was met with critical acclaim and gained international recognition. It was distributed in Poland by Asfalt Records and in Japan by P-Vine Records. Collaborating artists on the album included Golden Boy, Think Twice, and DJ Manzo. Videos were produced for the tracks "Sneakers N' Heels," "Kill Mics," and "Guess What."

Critical Reception and Collaborations

"Season One" was praised for its cohesive sound and reflective mood. Critics noted its originality and spontaneous nature, despite its polished production. The album's success showcased the duo's ability to create introspective and personal hip-hop.

Following the album's release, Antoniewicz returned his focus to his own group, Ortega Cartel. Meanwhile, Maxwell made guest appearances on Ortega Cartel's 2009 album "Lavorama." The Jonesz reunited briefly in 2010 to release the single "Part Time Shine," their final collaborative effort to date.
