Biography of Thomas Ostermeier

Thomas Ostermeier is a German theatre director and the artistic director of the Berlin theater "Schaubühne".

Education

From 1992 to 1996, Ostermeier studied at the directing department of the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin.

Early Career

In 1993-1994, he worked as an assistant and actor for Manfred Karge in Weimar and at the "Berliner Ensemble". From 1996 to 1999, Ostermeier led the "Baracke" studio at the German Theater in Berlin.

Artistic Director of Schaubühne

Since September 1999, he has been the director and artistic director of the Berlin theater "Schaubühne". Ostermeier has been instrumental in shaping the theater's innovative and contemporary approach to staging productions.

Awards and Recognition

In 2004, Ostermeier was invited as the artistic director of the Avignon Festival.
