Biography of Tiffany Simelane
Tiffany Simelane was a Swazi model who represented Swaziland in the Miss World 2008 competition in South Africa and was crowned the winner of Miss Swaziland. She was born in Mhlambanyatsi, Swaziland in 1988.

Controversy and Struggles
After winning the title of Miss World, Simelane complained to a friend that she was immediately told that she would have to pay for all expenses, including the cost of her dress and travel to the competition. This statement caused a major dispute between Simelane, sponsors, and competition organizers. The organizers claimed they were disappointed in Simelane, who had "disappeared without a trace" after her victory, causing a lot of controversy and disagreement.
The End of Reign
In an interview with the British newspaper 'The Times', Simelane expressed her gratitude to God for the end of her "reign" as the beauty queen of Swaziland. She revealed that she had started to feel like she was "going crazy" and that her victory had brought her nothing but burdensome responsibilities. During the ceremony at the 'Royal Swazi Convention Centre', Simelane refused to wear the crown and gave a speech stating that the race for the title of Miss Swaziland had opened her eyes. She expressed hope that the disputes that arose during her time as queen would eventually settle. She also added that the competition did not align with her true understanding of beauty, but her conscience remained clear.
Tragic Ending
On August 17, 2009, Tiffany Simelane tragically took her own life. It was reported that she had ingested a chemical pesticide containing aluminum phosphide, which releases a poisonous gas called phosphine. Her friends revealed that her broken heart, depression, and lack of close contact with her family overwhelmed her with bitterness from the consequences of the Miss Swaziland competition.
