Biography of Timofey Obukhov
Timofey Petrovich Obukhov was born on December 28, 1916, in the village of Korovino, now part of the Serebryano-Prudsky district of the Moscow region, into a peasant family. He completed his education, attending 7 classes in the city of Ozery in the Moscow region and then taking accounting courses. He worked as an accountant before joining the Uhtomsky Aeroclub in the same region.
Early Career and Military Service
After joining the Uhtomsky Aeroclub, Obukhov became a flight instructor. In 1938, he joined the Red Army and in 1939, he graduated from the Engels Military Aviation School for Pilots. In 1941, he completed courses for squadron commanders. In June 1941, he began serving on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War.
Combat Achievements
During his military service, Timofey Obukhov served in various fighter aviation units. He was part of the 12th Fighter Aviation Regiment (later becoming the 89th Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment) until 1944, flying Yak-1, Yak-7, and Yak-9 aircraft. From April 1945 until the end of the war, he served in the 133rd Guards Fighter Aviation Regiment, flying Yak-9 aircraft.
Timofey Obukhov distinguished himself in combat, completing over 300 successful combat missions. He personally shot down 11 enemy aircraft and an additional 5 as part of a group. On May 1, 1943, he was awarded the title of Hero of the Soviet Union for his courage and military valor displayed in battles against the enemy.
Post-War Service
After the war, Obukhov continued his service in the Air Force. In 1950, he graduated from the Higher Flight and Tactical Officer Training Courses. From 1953, Timofey Petrovich Obukhov held the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in the reserve and lived in the city of Ozery. He was decorated with the Orders of Lenin, the Red Banner (twice), and Suvorov 3rd Class, as well as several medals. He passed away on September 25, 1972.
