Biography of Tom Daley
Tom Robert Daley was born on May 21, 1994 in Plymouth, United Kingdom. He is a British athlete specializing in 10-meter platform diving. From a young age, Tom showed a talent for diving and was inspired by Canadian athlete Alexandre Despatie and British athlete Leon Taylor. Despite facing the tragedy of his father's death from cancer in 2011, Tom continued to pursue his passion for diving.

Early Career
At the age of 7, Tom began diving and joined the Plymouth Diving Club. Recognizing his talent, a coach placed him in a training program in September 2002. He competed in his first competition, the National Novice Championships, in April 2003 and won a medal in the boys' 8-9 age group. In September 2003, he participated in a sports event in Southampton, where he impressed the audience by winning competitions in 1, 3, and 10-meter diving.

Success in Junior Competitions
Continuing his success, Tom went on to win the British championships in his age group in 2004, 2005, and 2006 in 1, 3, and 10-meter diving events. Remarkably, just one month after turning 10, he became the youngest winner of the National Junior Championships in the 10-meter platform category. In 2005, Tom competed as a guest in the Australian Elite Junior Nationals and won first place in the 10-meter diving and second place in the 3-meter diving events for the 14-15 age group.

Rise to International Prominence
Despite not being selected for the Commonwealth Games team in 2006 due to his age, Tom continued to excel in diving. In January 2007, at the age of 12, he received special permission to participate in the Australian Youth Olympic Festival, where he won a silver medal in synchronized 10-meter diving. Tom's international career truly began after his participation in the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he became the youngest athlete in the British team.
International Achievements
Tom's achievements continued to grow in the following years. In 2009, he won the gold medal at the FINA World Championships in Rome, placing him at the top of the world rankings for 10-meter platform diving. He also won two gold medals at the Commonwealth Games in 2010, as well as two gold medals at the LEN European Aquatics Championships in 2008 and 2012.
Olympic Success
In the 2012 London Olympics, Tom won a bronze medal in the 10-meter platform diving event, finishing behind Qiu Bo from China and David Boudia from the United States. With his remarkable talent and dedication, Tom is considered one of the strongest divers in the world. He is expected to compete in the upcoming Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, where he has a strong chance of winning a gold medal.
