A Path to Parenthood through Surrogacy
The Couple's JourneyTracy and Peter Akun, a Hampshire-based British couple, found their path to parenthood through surrogacy after experiencing multiple miscarriages. They met online in 2013 and married in 2016.

The Surrogates
Tracy and Peter were fortunate to find two lesbian couples willing to be their surrogates: Trisha Hunt and Kate Fruin-Smith. Both women had previous children from heterosexual relationships and same-sex relationships.

The Pregnancy and Birth
Using Peter's sperm and the surrogates' eggs, both Trisha and Kate became pregnant in the fall of 2015. Trisha gave birth to Nobby premature at 2.29kg on June 4, 2016, while Kate delivered Kenya on July 4, 2016. Tracy and Peter witnessed Nobby's birth but were en route to the hospital when Kenya arrived.

The Children
Nobby and Kenya are half-sisters, with Peter as their biological father. Tracy considers herself the mother of both girls. Additionally, Tracy has an 18-year-old daughter from a previous relationship.

The Surrogacy Process
Trisha received £750 monthly as a surrogate, while Kate received £550. Guidelines recommend an upper limit of £15,000 per year to cover expenses related to pregnancy.
The Surrogates' Motivations
Both Trisha and Kate were motivated to help Tracy and Peter by becoming surrogates. Trisha expressed a desire to make a positive impact, while Kate found fulfillment in knowing she could make a difference in someone's life.
