Triinu Kivilaan: A Multifaceted Artist

Born in Viljandi, Estonia, Triinu Kivilaan began her musical journey early on, honing her skills in piano and saxophone at a music school.

Modeling and Miss Model Estonia

Kivilaan ventured into modeling and achieved success, winning the Miss Model Estonia 2004 pageant. This success opened doors for her in the entertainment industry.

Joining Vanilla Ninja

In 2004, Kivilaan joined the successful Estonian girl group Vanilla Ninja, replacing departing vocalist Maarja Kivi. Despite being considered a look-alike for her predecessor, Kivilaan denied any resemblance.

Eurovision and Backstage Role

As a member of Vanilla Ninja, Kivilaan represented Switzerland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2005. Despite being under the age requirement of 16, the European Broadcasting Union granted her participation due to her near-age status. Kivilaan primarily served as a backing vocalist and bass player, with Lenna Kuurmaa taking on lead vocals.

Departure from Vanilla Ninja

In December 2005, Kivilaan left Vanilla Ninja due to creative differences with her bandmates. Her departure marked the transition to a trio format for the group.

Solo Career

Kivilaan embarked on a solo career, releasing several singles and her debut album, "Now and Forever," in 2008. She continues to pursue her music endeavors, showcasing her vocal and instrumental talents.
