Early Life
Troy McClain was born on July 8, 1971, in Anchorage, Alaska. Growing up, he faced hardship with his family constantly moving and his father facing unstable employment. Despite these challenges, McClain's grandfather, Nick, instilled in him values of responsibility and compassion.
The Turning Point
In 1981, McClain's younger sister, DoraLynn, was diagnosed with spinal meningitis, resulting in hearing loss and developmental delays. His grandfather's words, urging him to become "the responsible one," motivated McClain to take accountability for his actions and be a positive influence in DoraLynn's life.
Inspiration and Motivation
In 1989, McClain's mother bought him Donald Trump's book "The Art of the Deal." Inspired by its lessons, he vowed to achieve financial success to secure his family's future. He graduated from Mead High School in Spokane, Washington, in 1989, with the motto "Trump! Here I Come!" engraved in his yearbook.
Business Ventures
After graduation, McClain pursued various business opportunities, including assisting with a T-shirt manufacturing company and opening his own health club in 1994. Inspired by Father Joe, a farmer, McClain became involved with Morning Star Boys Ranch, a boxing program for troubled youth.
Mortgage Success
Utilizing the principles from "The Art of the Deal," McClain secured a loan and, by 1995, became a top producer for Cherry Creek Mortgage in Spokane. His success propelled him to become a branch manager for Royal Mortgage in Boise, Idaho, in 1996.
Family First
In 1998, McClain's mother was diagnosed with cutaneous tuberculosis. This news prompted him to leave his position in Denver and return to Boise to be with his family. With the help of his sister, Cynthia, and brother-in-law, Michael, he reunited his family.
Creditworthy and Financially Secure
McClain's business savvy and connections enabled him to become creditworthy and start his own credit line. He also financed business transactions and worked with banks and mortgage companies. While working for American Bank, McClain met his future wife, Crystal. They married in 2003.
Present and Future
Today, McClain is a successful lender, financial advisor, and investor. He has purchased a home for his mother and DoraLynn, fulfilling his promise. McClain is grateful for the journey he has traveled and the lessons he has learned along the way. He remains optimistic about his future and is determined to continue exploring new possibilities.
