Early Life and Influences
Sayan Zhimbaev, known by his stage name Truwer, was born on July 17, 1994, in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan, near the Russian border. Despite his Kazakh nationality, he chose to rap in Russian, possibly influenced by his proximity to Russia. Growing up, Truwer exhibited a calm and respectful demeanor, excelling in school and sports while striving to please his parents. His love for music ignited after listening to 50 Cent's "Candy Shop," inspiring him to write his own songs to impress girls.
Meeting Skriptonite and Jillzay
Fate brought Truwer together with Adil Zhalelov, aka Skriptonite, through mutual acquaintances. Their bond grew over the next few years, with Skriptonite becoming an influential figure in Truwer's life. Truwer initially joined the group Jillzay, led by Skriptonite, and contributed to their powerful street music. The group eventually relocated to Moscow, where they established their own label, Musica36, based on enthusiasm rather than financial resources.
Solo Career and Debut Album
Over time, the members of Jillzay decided to pursue solo projects while maintaining their collective friendship and collaborations. Truwer released the album "Safari" with 104 in 2017, written and recorded in a Moscow studio where Truwer spent months. He sought guidance from experienced colleagues like Skriptonite, who provided valuable feedback and helped him refine his lyrics.
In 2019, Truwer officially joined Musica36, collaborating on tracks with Niman, Raida, and Skriptonite. He released his debut solo album, "KAZ.PRAVDU," in December 2020. The title, which translates to "Truth Street," pays homage to a street in his hometown of Pavlodar and reflects his introspective and nostalgic approach to the album's content.
Personal Life
Truwer maintains a private personal life, rarely divulging details. In a 2020 interview with Harper's Bazaar, he briefly acknowledged his relationship, stating that he had been dedicated to one woman for a year and a half. His upbringing surrounded by sisters instilled in him a deep respect for women, a sentiment that influences his music despite the genre's often derogatory language.
Current Activities and Discography
Truwer continues to write and perform music, releasing the video for his track "SOLTUSTIK" in January 2021, which garnered over a million views on YouTube within months. In April of the same year, he announced his mini-album "HYBRID," a collaboration with Qurt, released on all digital platforms.
