Early Career
Ul'ug'bek Bakayev, a renowned Uzbek footballer, began his professional journey with "Bukhara" in 1996. Nurtured by the DYuSSh "Bukhara" youth academy, he quickly rose through the ranks.
Flourishing in Russia and Kazakhstan
Driven by his talent, Bakayev ventured into Russia's illustrious football scene, playing for prestigious clubs such as CSKA Moscow, "Torpedo-ZIL" (now FC Moscow), and "Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk." In 2004, he made his mark in Kazakhstan, joining "Tobol" from Kostanay.
Shining as Kazakhstan's Top Scorer
During his stint with "Tobol" from 2004 to 2007, Bakayev showcased his remarkable scoring prowess. In 2004, he emerged as the Kazakhstan Premier League's joint top scorer with 22 goals, sharing the accolade with Arsen Tlekhugov of "Kairat" Almaty.
Return to Uzbekistan and Recognition
Bakayev returned to Uzbekistan in 2008, playing for Tashkent's "Kuruvchi" ("Bunyodkor"). In 2009, he represented "Bunyodkor" but faced fierce competition, limiting his appearances to only five. Seeking more playing time, he joined "Dinamo" Samarkand and later rediscovered his form with "Tobol" in 2010, culminating in another impressive season where he topped the league's scoring charts with 16 goals.
Kazakhstan League Dominance
Bakayev's stellar performances continued in 2011 when he signed for "Zhetysu" from Taldykorgan. He contributed an impressive 18 goals in 29 league appearances, earning him the accolade of the Kazakhstan Premier League's Best Footballer in 2011.
International Career
Since 2001, Bakayev has been a key player for the Uzbekistan national team. In 2007, he featured in 12 international matches, and in 2011, he made a notable contribution at the AFC Asian Cup by scoring two goals against Jordan.
