Usher
Biography of Usher
American singer and actor Usher is known as the R&B sex symbol, often referred to as the male version of Madonna. His confident statement contradicts the ancient belief that a person's name speaks for them, as the name Usher translates from English as "swiss". However, it is hard to argue against this statement, considering his recent success. Like many musicians, Usher spent his childhood in a church choir, developing a passion for gospel music and performing in various talent competitions.

His first significant victory can be considered the Grand Prix of the Star Search talent show. A year later, during another talent show, he was offered a contract with LaFace Records. At the time, he was only 14 years old! His career immediately took off, with his songs for the Poetic Justice soundtrack, and the singles "Call Me A Mack" and "Can U Get Wit It" making waves in the R&B charts. The song "Think Of You" garnered increased interest from fans and quickly became a dance hit.

LaFace Records promoted Usher, focusing not only on his music and vocals but also on his charming face. It was showcased in music videos and presented to Oprah Winfrey's massive fan base. Usher even voiced a jingle for a Coca-Cola commercial. However, as he transitioned from a cute boy to a man, he faced difficulties, including a voice mutation. To overcome these challenges, Usher had to demonstrate exceptional energy and determination. He wrote over half the songs for his new album and actively participated in selecting producers. Studio sessions were conducted under the guidance of Jermaine Dupri and Babyface.

His second album, "My Way," was released in 1997. With the release of the single "You Make Me Wanna," it became clear that a new star had emerged in American R&B. The song "My Way," which topped the R&B chart for 8 weeks, became his first pop hit. Usher's mature image, polished dance moves showcased in music videos, and the excellent production by Jermaine Dupri played a significant role in his success. "My Way" quickly went double platinum.

Usher was determined to achieve the success of Madonna and Will Smith in both music and movies. Before seriously pursuing his acting career, he recorded songs for the soundtracks of the films "Kazaam" and "Soul Food." He made his big-screen debut in the 1998 horror film "The Faculty" and appeared in the 1999 film "Light It Up," a high school drama. Over time, he added two more significant film roles to his resume.
In between studio sessions, Usher filled his time with not only acting but also active concert tours. His live performances were captured in the concert album "Live" released in 1999. In late 2000, Usher released the mini-disc "All About U." He already had enough new material for several more records, and in 2001, he released the album "8701." The album marked a new important stage in Usher's career, as he evolved from a pop idol and teenage heartthrob into a mature, independent R&B artist. The professionals noticed his growth, and he won the Grammy Award for Best Male R&B Vocal Performance for his tracks "U Remind Me" and "U Don't Have to Call" in 2001 and 2002 consecutively.
Usher's super-popularity attracted press attention, particularly regarding his personal life. He entered into a relationship with Rozonda Thomas, known as Chilli from the female R&B trio TLC. Their romance, with a seven-year age difference and Thomas' child from a previous relationship with producer Dallas Austin, was predicted to be short-lived, and it eventually ended. Usher took a break from releasing albums but founded his own label, Us Records, and began producing emerging artists.
In early 2004, Usher released the single "Yeah!" in collaboration with Lil Jon and Ludacris, which became the song of the year. It quickly became a club hit and topped the Billboard chart by the time his album "Confessions" was released. "Confessions" spent ten consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200 and remains the best-selling album of 2004 with a four million copies sold. Usher's success continued, and he received numerous awards, including three Grammy Awards and three Soul Train Awards for his hit song "My Boo."
A few weeks before receiving these accolades, Usher released a DVD of his music videos titled "Rhythm City: Caught Up Vol.1." He then announced his intention to focus more on acting in films. The future remains uncertain for this resourceful, talented, and charming artist, but it can be confidently said that anything is possible when he says, "Yeah!"
