Rise to Prominence

Arminas Narbekovas was a renowned Soviet and Lithuanian footballer. During his tenure in the top league from 1983 to 1986, he made 103 appearances, scoring an impressive 7 goals. His exceptional performance earned him a second-place ranking in the List of 33 Best Players in 1983. Narbekovas also represented the USSR Olympic team.

Triumph and Honors

In 1983, Narbekovas was crowned the Best Footballer of Lithuania. His outstanding contributions helped propel his team to numerous victories.

Accusations and Exile

However, in the spring of 1986, Narbekovas was implicated in a match-fixing scandal and was subsequently expelled from his club, Zalgiris. As a result, he was forced to play in lower-tier leagues.

International Journey

In 1989, Narbekovas joined a group of Lithuanian footballers who played for the Polish club Jagiellonia. However, the team was relegated from the top league at the end of the year.

Post-Scandal Career

Narbekovas sought to rebuild his career in Germany. He initially played for the Oberliga team Remscheid before moving on to lower-division clubs such as Gevelsberg, Hücheswagen, and others.
