Early Life and Education
Valentin Elizarievwas born on October 30, 1947 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Inspired by the art of dance, he pursued his passion at the Leningrad Choreographic Institute named after A. Ya. Vaganova, graduating in 1967. Continuing his education, Elizariev obtained a degree from the Leningrad State Conservatory named after N. Rimsky-Korsakov in 1973.
Career Beginnings
Early Engagements:After graduating, Elizariev embarked on his career as a leader of a choreographic circle at the Palace of Culture named after the 1st Five-Year Plan in Leningrad (1967-1968). He then served as the head of the dance studio at Leningrad State University (1968-1970).
Artistic Director and Principal Choreographer
Belarusian State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre:At the age of 26, Elizariev became the principal choreographer of the Belarusian State Academic Bolshoi Opera and Ballet Theatre (1979 onwards). His exceptional leadership and vision transformed the institution into a renowned center of ballet.
Artistic Director of the Ballet:
From 1992 to 2009, he expanded his role to become the artistic director and director of the Ballet Theatre, guiding its artistic and administrative decisions.
Academic and Professional Recognition
Professor and Academician:Elizariev's expertise and dedication led to his appointment as a professor at the Belarusian State Academy of Music in 1995. His contributions to the field of dance earned him membership in prestigious organizations, including the Council of Europe for Culture (1996), the International Slavic Academy (1996), and the Petrovsky Academy of Sciences and Arts (1997).
Member of the Council of the Republic:
Elizariev's leadership extended beyond the realm of ballet. He served as a member of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus from 2000 to 2008.
Personal Life
Marriage:Valentin Elizariev is married to Margarita Izvorska-Elizarieva, who is also an accomplished dancer and pedagogue.
