Early Life and Education

Valentin Koryakin is a Moldovan artist, graphic designer, and watercolorist who inherited his love for art from his grandfather. His grandfather, a self-taught artist with natural talent, used to paint wooden churches in Siberia. Koryakin spent his childhood in Central Asia and then moved to Kishinev in 1949. In 1958, he graduated from the Republican Art School named after Ilya Repin, and in 1966, he completed his studies at the Belarusian State Theater and Art Institute in Minsk. For his diploma project, Koryakin received high praise from the artist I. T. Bogdesko for his artistic design of Vladimir Alexandri's ballads.

Artistic Career

Koryakin has been participating in art exhibitions since 1966. He became a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR in 1969 and has participated in national and international art events. He has taken part in plein-airs in the Far East, including Kamchatka, Sakhalin, and the Kuril Islands, as well as in Central Asia, the Kola Peninsula, Crimea, Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, and other countries. His works have been exhibited in Soviet and Moldovan art exhibitions in Romania, Poland, Congo, Switzerland, Finland, Austria, Damascus, Denmark, Iraq, France, Czechoslovakia, Mongolia, Ghana, Portugal, Cyprus, and Germany.

Teaching Career and Recognition

Since 1966, Koryakin has been teaching at various art institutions in Kishinev. He joined the Moldovan State Institute of Arts in 1984 when the art faculty was established. In 1997, he was awarded the title of Honored Artist of the Republic of Moldova for his contributions to the arts.
