Valentina Pugacheva, a renowned actress, passed away in Saint Petersburg at the age of 74. She gained fame for her role as Zina in the iconic Soviet film "Spring on Zarechnaya Street". Despite her declining health, Pugacheva had dreams of taking on new and interesting roles.

Biography

Valentina Pugacheva was born on May 14, 1935, in Leningrad. She graduated from the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography and built the majority of her career at the "Lenfilm" studio. The young actress appeared in well-known films such as "The Height," "Night Guest," "Long Day," "After the Wedding," "Mother and Stepmother," "Snow Maiden," "The Strogovs," "This Is My Village," and many others.

However, out of Pugacheva's more than 30 film works, audiences best remember her for her role in the film "Spring on Zarechnaya Street". Her portrayal of Zinochka, a young school teacher's love affair with her student, became the most successful and vibrant character created by Valentina Pugacheva. As a result of her performance, she was awarded an apartment in Saint Petersburg, where she lived until her passing.

A Life Dedicated to Family

Valentina Pugacheva suffered from pulmonary insufficiency and asthma, resulting in her retirement from acting. Despite her health struggles, she spent all her time with her family. Pugacheva devoted herself to raising her grandchildren, Aliya, Timur, and Damir. Her death was a true tragedy for the children as their grandmother had showered them with attention and love.

Pugacheva's final work in the film industry was a minor role in the series "Streets of Broken Streetlights" in 1998. However, until her last days, she continued to dream of new and interesting roles.

A Heartbreaking Farewell

Valentina Pugacheva's relatives were deeply devastated by her passing. Her 92-year-old mother, Milania Pugacheva, cannot believe that she has outlived her own daughter. Upon learning of Valentina's death, Milania fell ill and has remained bedridden, refusing to speak to anyone.

Only close family and friends had the opportunity to bid farewell to the legendary Soviet cinema star. In accordance with Valentina Pugacheva's own wishes, she was buried next to her husband at the cemetery in Repino, near Saint Petersburg, without any public fuss or fanfare.
