David Abramovich: A Georgian Defender with a Russian Connection
Early CareerDavid Abramovich, a Georgian defender, began his career in his home country. He played for Torpedo Kutaisi, where his performances caught the attention of Spartak Moscow.
Joining Spartak Moscow
In the summer of 2002, Abramovich signed a five-year contract with Spartak Moscow. He made 15 league appearances and 4 Champions League appearances for the club, but failed to score any goals.
Loan to Uralan and Move to Khimki
In 2003, Abramovich was loaned out to Uralan. He then joined Khimki permanently in 2004.
Contract Dispute with Khazar Lankaran
In 2007, Abramovich faced a legal dispute with Khazar Lankaran. Despite believing he had signed a one-year contract, the club's officials claimed he had signed for two years. The misunderstanding arose due to the contract being written in Azerbaijani, a language Abramovich did not understand.
Career Gap and Return to Football
As a result of the dispute, Abramovich missed a significant amount of time. He was unable to join Anzhi in 2007 and was effectively out of football for eight months. He returned to the game at the start of the 2008 season.
