Birth and Early Years
Born in Samarkand in 1945, the renowned Russian theater and film director embarked on his artistic journey at an early age.
Academia and Artistic Pursuits
Between 1963 and 1965, he studied philosophy at Moscow State University while honing his technical skills as an illuminator and camera assistant at the "Tajikfilm" studio. In 1971, he graduated from the VGIK Film Institute's directing department under the tutelage of legendary filmmaker E. Dzhigan.
Theatrical Leadership
Appointed as the chief director of the Tajik Academic Drama Theater named after Lahoti, he left an indelible mark on the theater's productions. His tenure also witnessed his induction into the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU) in 1974.
Leadership in the Film Industry
From 1978 to 1986, he served as the first secretary of the Union of Cinematographers of Tajikistan, actively involved in shaping the country's film industry.
Experimental Theater
In 1987, he became the chief director of the State Russian Theater in Dushanbe. Two years later, he founded and led the experimental theater-studio "Poluostrov," fostering a space for innovative theatrical explorations.
Bringing Artistic Vision to Magnitogorsk
In 1991, facing political turmoil in Tajikistan, he relocated the core of his theater troupe to Magnitogorsk in Russia. He assumed the role of chief director of the A. S. Pushkin Drama Theater, where he remained until 1998.
Nurturing Young Talent
Concurrently, from 1993 to 1998, he passed on his knowledge and experience as a mentor to aspiring actors at the Magnitogorsk State Conservatory.
Academic Accomplishments
In 2004, he was appointed as an associate professor at VGIK. His legacy as a teacher continues to inspire students, including renowned directors such as Vyacheslav Kaminsky, Mikhail Morskov, and Evgeny Shelyakin.
Political Involvement
In 2008, he joined the federal political council of the newly formed "Right Cause" party.
