Valerii Kaurov
Valerii Viktorovych Kaurov is a Ukrainian publicist, public figure, and Orthodox activist. He is the chairman of the Union of Orthodox Citizens of Ukraine (SPGU), the director of the portal "Yedinoe Otechestvo" (United Fatherland), and the editor of the newspaper "Pravoslavny Telegraf" (Orthodox Telegraph).
Early Life and Education
Valerii Kaurov was born on April 2, 1956, in Odessa, Ukraine. He received a secondary technical education, graduating from the Priluki Vocational School in 1974 with a specialization as a turner-miller.
Career
From 1975 to 1983, Kaurov worked at the "Elektronmash" plant. From 1983 to 1990, he was employed by the construction organization Smu-26 "Odesstroy." In 1990, he headed the cooperative "Soyuz-89."
From 1992 to 2001, Kaurov was the general director of the firm "Interodeks." On March 5, 2001, he became the chairman of the Odessa regional public Orthodox-patriotic organization "Yedinoe Otechestvo."
Political Activism
Kaurov was an activist in the tent camp at Kulikovo Field in Odessa during the 2014 Ukrainian crisis. He declared himself the people's head of the Odessa People's Republic, causing surprise among the leaders of the Odessa "Anti-Maidan." During the events of May 2, 2014, he was in Crimea but remained in contact with his supporters, three of whom died in the Trade Union House fire. Currently, he resides in Russia.
Church and Public Activities
Kaurov has been an active advocate for the rights of Orthodox believers in Ukraine, particularly those belonging to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate). He has led the defense and liberation of churches throughout the country, including in Ostróg, Sviatohirsk Lavra, Chernihiv, Odessa, and other dioceses.
He has also organized and participated in numerous charitable, missionary, and patriotic events, such as the "Orthodox Children of Odessa" charity marathon, processions and prayer rallies against supporters of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Kyiv Patriarchate), and roundtables on the challenges faced by the Russian-speaking population in Ukraine.

Valerii Kaurov has received numerous awards and recognitions for his work, including:
Order of Saint Equal-to-the-Apostles Grand Prince Vladimir III (2003) from Metropolitan Vladimir of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
Order of Saint Blessed Prince Daniel of Moscow III (2007) from Patriarch Alexy II of the Russian Orthodox Church
Order of Saint Anna III (2010) from the head of the Imperial House of Romanov
Personal Life
Valerii Kaurov is a member of the Socialist Party of Ukraine. He is unmarried and has two sons and a daughter.
