Vera Alexeyevna Karalli, a renowned Russian ballerina, choreographer, and silent film actress, was born in Moscow on July 27, 1889.

Early Life and Training

From a young age, Karalli exhibited exceptional talent in dance and singing. In 1906, she graduated from the Moscow Theatre School under the tutelage of Alexander Gorsky.

Within the same year, Karalli made her debut as a soloist with the Bolshoi Theatre. She performed numerous dynamic dramatic roles and participated in celebrated ballets such as "The Daughter of the Pharaoh," "A Life for the Tsar," "Swan Lake," and "Salammbô."

International Tours and "Russian Seasons"

In 1909, Karalli joined Sergei Diaghilev's Ballets Russes for their foreign tours. She again toured with the company in 1919-1920.
