Biography of Veronika Izotova

Veronika Izotova was born into an acting family. Her father, Eduard Izotov, became famous for his role as Ivanushka in the film "Morozko". Her mother, Inga Budkevich, appeared in the fairy tales "Varvara-krasa, dlinnaya kosa" and "Ogon, voda i... mednye truby". With parents who were actors, Veronika never dreamed of any other profession. From childhood, she dreamed of acting in movies. At a very young age, she appeared in a scene with her father. She received her first real role at the age of 11, playing the character Mayka in Ekaterina Stashevskaya's musical film "Malchiki".

Early Career

Veronika Izotova recalls, "I came to Mosfilm to audition, and there was a whole line of people all playing the same scene. Before the audition, we had to say, 'I, so-and-so, am playing the role of Mayka.' But I was always a doubtful person from an early age, so instead of saying 'am playing', I said 'am auditioning'. Probably they appreciated it, and they approved me for the role." Four years later, the young actress starred as Kati Tugarinova in the school comedy "Potryasayushchiy Berendeyev". After finishing school, Veronika enrolled in the State Institute of Cinematography. She studied under the guidance of distinguished Russian filmmakers Sergey Bondarchuk and Irina Skobtseva.

Recognition and Exploitation

Directors did not forget about the young actress. In 1979, she appeared as Natasha in the optimistic drama "S lyubovyu popolam", and soon after, she successfully played (in her own words) a "beautiful but very evil girl" in the educational film "Liven". In 1981, Veronika Izotova graduated from the State Institute of Cinematography and became an actress at the Cinema Actor Studio in Moscow. She appeared in films frequently, but directors persistently exploited her role as a cold beauty, a predator, a femme fatale.

Varying Roles

Occasionally, she played other roles. In the melodrama "Bluzhdayushchie zvezdy" directed by Vsevolod Shilovsky, Veronika Izotova played her first character role. Her character, Genrietta Shvalb, was beautiful and wicked, with various emotions: loving, suffering, envious, and evil. Izotova admitted that she found it particularly interesting to work on this film. Another interesting role awaited the actress in the television film "Kon belyy". In addition to playing Kolchak's mistress, an aristocrat of the highest rank, she also had to play the role of her own daughter. Veronika Izotova recalls, "They made me look awful: a dirty face, bruises under my eyes, tangled hair, torn clothes, a scary gait... And I enjoyed playing such a character more than playing the 'Snow Queen'. I am always drawn to a more emotional and open temperament rather than an internal, restrained one."

Later Career and Personal Life

Veronika Izotova also highlighted her roles in Vladimir Basov's films: the family saga "Vremya i semya Konvey" based on the book by Pristley and the phantasmagorical fable "Sem krikov v okeane" based on a play by Alexandr Kaso. She was supposed to work with him again on the film "Myselovka", but this project did not come to fruition due to Basov's untimely death. From the mid-1990s, the actress stopped appearing in movies. After her role in the detective film "Na uglu u Patriarshikh", she did not receive any good offers. Like many talented actors of the past, she became unnecessary to the Russian film industry. Fortunately, Veronika Izotova's life turned out well. Her husband, Valentin Bubentsov, is a wealthy businessman who is not involved in the film industry. The couple is raising their daughter, Dina. In 2003, after a long hiatus, Izotova appeared in the film "Operativnyy psevdonim".
