Early Life and Education
Eduard Pichugin was born in Leningrad, USSR, on September 7, 1958. He graduated from the North-West Polytechnic Institute in 1981 with a degree in radio engineering. In 1991, he completed advanced training in foreign economic activity at the Leningrad Institute of Economics and Finance.
Career in Film
Administrative Roles (1986-1998)Pichugin began his career in the film industry in 1986 as a senior administrator at the Lenfilm film studio. From 1994 to 1998, he served as commercial director of the Experimental Cinema studio in St. Petersburg.
Documentary Film (1999-2007)
In 1999, Pichugin became the director of the St. Petersburg Documentary Film Studio, a position he held until 2007. During this time, he oversaw the production and release of numerous documentaries.
General Director of Lenfilm (2007-Present)
Since 2007, Pichugin has served as the General Director of Lenfilm, one of Russia's oldest and most renowned film studios. Under his leadership, Lenfilm has produced a wide range of critically acclaimed films, including:
"The Dog's Year" (1994), which won the Silver Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival
"Khrustalyov, My Car!" (1998), which was nominated for the Palme d'Or at the Cannes Film Festival
