Early Life

Victor Panteleimonovich Yegunov was born in 1928 at Kazanzevo Station on the Chinese Eastern Railway. His family soon moved to Michurinsk, where he completed the first two grades of elementary school. They then relocated to Zima, Irkutsk Oblast, where he finished eighth grade.

Wartime and Career Beginnings

During World War II in 1942, Yegunov joined the Komsomol and began working as an apprentice turner at the Zima locomotive depot. In 1944, he became the elected secretary of the depot's Komsomol organization. Concurrently, he auditioned and successfully entered the theater studio at the Irkutsk Drama Theater.

Military Service and Return to the Stage

Upon graduating from the studio in 1948, Yegunov was drafted into the Soviet Army. He served as an aircraft mechanic in Achinsk, Krasnoyarsk Krai. After demobilization in 1952, he returned to the Irkutsk Drama Theater and became the secretary of its Komsomol organization.

Recognition and Awards

Yegunov's dedication to theater led to numerous accolades:
- 1971: Honored Artist of the USSR
- 1978: People's Artist of Russia
- 1998: Honorary Citizen of Irkutsk
Personal Life

Yegunov's personal life was marked by close relationships with women. He was married three times and had children from each marriage. Friends described him as a romantic who viewed relationships through the lens of chivalry.
