Early Life and Career

Victor Kraatz, born in West Berlin, spent his childhood in Switzerland. At the age of 9, he began ice skating. While in Switzerland, he partnered with Analisa Beltrami in ice dancing. Upon moving to Canada, Kraatz skated with Taryn O'Neill.

Partnership with Shae-Lynn Bourne

In April 1991, Kraatz teamed up with Shae-Lynn Bourne, forming a partnership that lasted until the end of their amateur careers. Together, they worked under the guidance of renowned coaches such as Tatiana Tarasova, Natalia Dubova, and Nikolai Morozov.

Major Accomplishments

In 2003, Kraatz and Bourne made history by becoming the first Canadian ice dancers to win the World Championship. This remarkable achievement marked the pinnacle of their amateur careers, prompting Kraatz to announce his retirement from competitive skating.

Personal Life

Victor Kraatz is married to Finnish figure skater Maikki Uotila. They welcomed their first son in 2006 and their second son in 2010. The family resides in Vancouver, Canada.
