Biography of Victoria Pendleton
Victoria Louise Pendleton, an English cyclist and model, specializes in track cycling events such as keirin and sprint. She has represented Great Britain and England in international competitions, winning nine world championship titles. Pendleton is a former Olympic, European, and Commonwealth Games champion. In 2012, she won the gold medal in keirin at the Summer Olympics in London, as well as silver in the individual sprint.

Early Life and Career
Victoria Louise Pendleton and her twin brother, Alex James Pendleton, were born on September 24, 1980, in Stotfold, Bedfordshire, England. Their parents, Max Pendleton and Pauline M Viney, were former cyclists. Victoria has an older sister named Nicola Jane. She participated in her first race in Fordham at the age of nine. By the age of 13, she had achieved impressive results, catching the attention of national team assistant coach Marshal Thomas. Despite her early success, Pendleton initially focused on her education at Fearnhill School in Letchworth Garden City and later pursued a degree in sports and exercise science at Northumbria University.

Rise to Success
During her university years, Pendleton continued to excel in track cycling, winning bronze and three silver medals at the national championships in 2001. In 2002, she earned the right to participate in the Commonwealth Games, finishing fourth in the sprint. She finished fourth again at the 2003 World Championships in Stuttgart and the 2004 World Championships in Melbourne. In the overall World Cup standings, Pendleton secured second place in the sprint in 2004, winning the World Cup in Manchester. At the 2004 Summer Olympics, she came sixth in the time trial and ninth in the women's 200m sprint.

In 2005, Pendleton won her first major title, a gold medal in the women's sprint at the World Championships. She became the third British woman to win a world championship in cycling in the last 40 years. In the 2006 Commonwealth Games, she won a silver medal in the 500m time trial and a gold medal in the sprint. Pendleton became a triple world champion in 2007, winning the team sprint and individual sprint events, as well as earning three gold medals in keirin. She was named "Sportswoman of the Year" by the Sunday Times in 2007, becoming the first cyclist to receive the award in 20 years.

Olympic Success and Retirement
At the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Pendleton won the gold medal in the individual sprint. A year later, she was appointed a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE). In the 2011 World Championships, Pendleton won silver and bronze medals in the team sprint and sprint, respectively, but finished seventh in keirin. In February 2012, she set a new world record in the team sprint (32.754 seconds) with her partner Jess Varnish at the World Cup held on the London Olympic Velodrome.
At the 2012 London Olympics, Pendleton and Varnish broke the world record again in the qualifying rounds of the team sprint before being disqualified in the semifinals. However, they recovered and won the gold medal in the keirin event. Pendleton set a new Olympic record of 10.724 seconds in the qualifying rounds of the individual sprint but ultimately won the silver medal, losing to Anna Meares in the final. After this race, Victoria retired from professional cycling.
Post-Cycling Career
Pendleton appeared on the cover of the July 2009 issue of FHM magazine. She became the face of Pantene products during the 2012 Olympics and participated in a BBC program that aired in July 2012. Marketing experts estimated that Victoria could earn £1 million annually through advertising campaigns. It is not excluded that she may participate in the show "Strictly Come Dancing" in the future and pursue a career in television. Pendleton is engaged to Scott Gardner, a sports scientist for the British cycling team, and they plan to marry in 2013.
