Early Life and Career Beginnings

Born on 10 February 1986, in Belgrade, Serbia, Viktor Troicki, affectionately known as Vik, began playing tennis at the age of five. His idol was legendary tennis player Andre Agassi. He trained at the prestigious Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in Bradenton, Florida, from the age of 13 to 15. Troicki made his debut in Futures tournaments in 2003, winning his first title in Belgrade. He also won his first Challenger tournament in his hometown on 20 January 2005, defeating Italian Fabio Colangelo.

ATP Debut and Notable Victories

Troicki made his ATP Tour debut in Tokyo in October 2006. He advanced to the second round, where he faced then world No. 1 Roger Federer, ultimately losing in two tie-breaks. In June 2007, Troicki recorded one of his most significant victories by defeating then world No. 3 Novak Djokovic in the second round of the tournament in Umag. However, he suffered a loss in the semifinals.
