In 1976, Victor became the European champion as part of the Soviet Union's junior national team. The following year, he embarked on his journey as a player for the top league team.

In 1981, Victor Tyumenyov transferred to the Moscow-based team, "Spartak". He represented the country as part of the national team from 1982 to 1990.
