Biography of Viktor Zvyahintsev
Soviet Football Player, Coach, RefereeViktor Zvyahintsev was a Soviet football player, coach, and referee who excelled in the position of central defender. He achieved the title of Master of Sports of the USSR in international class in 1976 and became a referee of the all-Union category in 1989. Zvyahintsev started his football career at the "Shakhtar" school in Donetsk in 1963 and played for the club several times between 1968 and 1980. He served in the army teams SKA (Kiev) and CSKA from 1971 to 1972. In 1976, Zvyahintsev joined "Dynamo" (Kiev) to participate in the Olympic Games. However, after the Games, he decided to end his performances for "Dynamo" due to conflicts with players and the coach Valeriy Lobanovskyi.
International Career
Zvyahintsev represented the USSR national teams in various competitions. He played for the Olympic team in 1972 and 1975, participating in a total of five games. He also played for the first national team from 1975 to 1976, appearing in 13 games and scoring one goal. In addition, he played one unofficial game against the GDR national team on May 9, 1980.
Playing Style and Retirement
Zvyahintsev was known for his physical strength, agility, and quick decision-making. He was equally strong in defensive battles and positional play. In 1981, he ended his football career as a player, retiring while playing for "Tavriya". After retiring, Zvyahintsev worked as a miner in the Donbass mines for a short period in 1982.
Coaching Career
In 1985, Zvyahintsev became the coach of the football department at the sports committee of Donetsk. He later served as the director of the Youth Sports School for Football and headed the Donetsk City Football Federation.
Personal Life
Zvyahintsev's daughter Natalia is married to Viktor Onopko. His other daughter Victoria is married and currently resides in St. Petersburg.
