Early Life and Education
Valeri Kvaptsov was born on October 22, 1930, in Huliaipole, Ukrainian SSR (now Ukraine). In 1952, he graduated from Vasylkiv Aviation Technical School.
Career at Dovzhenko Film Studio
Kvaptsov began his film career in 1955 at the Dovzhenko Film Studio in Kyiv. He became a member of the Communist Party in 1953. In 1960, he completed cinematography courses at Dovzhenko Film Studio.
International Collaborations
Kvaptsov worked extensively with the Russian film studio "TRITE" in Moscow and the French film studio "Camera One."
Academy Membership and Recognition
In 1997, Kvaptsov was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Arts of Ukraine. He lived for many years in Kyiv's Rusanivka neighborhood.
Awards and Honors
- All-Union Film Festival Prize for Cinematography (1984)- USSR State Prize (1987) for his work on "Flights in Dreams and in Reality" (1982)
- Order of the Badge of Honor (1981)
- Honored Artist of Ukraine (1995)- Russian Federation State Prize (1993, 1995)
- Taras Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (2000, posthumously)
