Early Life and Inspiration

Born in Sacramento, California on April 18, 1995, Virginia Gardner's childhood dream was to become an actress. She participated in a drama club, attended school plays, and was deeply inspired by the 2001 film "I Am Sam," which depicted an autistic protagonist. The movie sparked her desire to create characters and positively impact audiences through films.

Acting and Modeling Career

First Roles and Hollywood Transition

Gardner's acting debut was in a minor role in the 2011 television series "Hart of Dixie." In 2012, she appeared in the superhero sitcom "Lab Rats" before briefly pursuing modeling due to her striking physical attributes (height: 5'8", weight: 124 lbs). However, after an audition for the musical series "Glee," Gardner realized her true passion lay in acting.

Breakthrough Role and "Runaways"

In 2015, Gardner secured a supporting role in the thriller "Project Almanac." Her breakthrough came two years later with the leading role of Karolina Dean in the Marvel superhero series "Runaways." Dean was a lesbian character who possessed the powers of flight, rainbow-like energy, and laser beams. Gardner portrayed the character for three seasons from 2017 to 2019.

Horror and Melodrama

In 2018, Gardner starred in the slasher film "Halloween," a sequel to the iconic 1978 film. She returned to the horror genre in the first season of the anthology series "American Horror Stories." Gardner also had a leading role in the 2022 romantic drama "Beautiful Disaster," an adaptation of the controversial novel by Jamie McGuire, despite criticisms surrounding the author's political views.

Personal Life

Since 2020, Gardner has been in a relationship with Jed Elliott, the bassist of the British rock band The Struts. In the summer of 2021, Elliott proposed to her, which Gardner shared on her Instagram account.

Recent Projects

Gardner's recent work includes the 2022 thriller "Fall," in which she portrays Hunter, a friend who goes on a dangerous adventure with a thrill-seeking woman. The film follows their fight for survival as they attempt to climb a 2,000-foot radio tower.
