Vivianne Siiri Anna Sjögren

Vivianne Sjögren, a prominent politician from the Åland Islands, was born on 18 August 1956.

Political Career

Sjögren entered the Åland Parliament in 1995 and quickly rose through the ranks. From 1999 to 2001, she served as the chairperson of the liberal party group in Parliament and as the chairperson of the financial committee. Her strong leadership skills were recognized when she became the vice-speaker from 2000 to 2001 and again from 2005 to 2007.

Speaker of Parliament

In 2001, Sjögren made history as the first woman to hold the position of Speaker of the Åland Parliament. She served in this role until 2005, guiding parliamentary debates and ensuring the smooth functioning of the legislature.

Prime Minister

In October 2007, Sjögren was appointed as the Prime Minister of the Åland Islands. During her tenure from 2007 to 2011, she led the government through significant challenges and achievements.

Return to Parliament
