Education and Writing Career

Vladimir Grzhonko's passion for writing began at an early age with his first story at six years old. At 13, he explored theater, writing his first play at 15 for the Baku Puppet Theater. However, his aspirations were interrupted by mandatory military service in the Soviet Army, leading him to Leningrad (now St. Petersburg).

Emigration and Artistic Turnaround

In 1990, Grzhonko and his wife emigrated to New York City. After struggling with menial jobs, he found solitude in writing. At age 40, he decided to pursue his passion full-time. His literary journey led to the publication of several novels: "The House" (2003), "Wedding" (2004), and "Doorway for a Butterfly" (2007).

Media and Editorial Work

Alongside his writing, Grzhonko worked in the media as an editor and screenwriter for Radio Vsyo (87.7 FM) and as the editor-in-chief of the popular New York weekly "Metro" from 2005 to 2008.

Grzhonko's experiences in both the Soviet Union and the United States have shaped his perspective and writing. He exists between two cultures, creating a unique literary universe that transcends geographical boundaries and explores the human condition.
