Early Life and Career

Vladimir Isakov was born on July 21, 1950, in the village of Voskresenskoe, Kaluga Oblast. His passion for science, history, and technology led him to pursue a military career.

After graduating from the Moscow Military School of Civil Defense in 1970, Isakov took command of a reconnaissance platoon in a mechanized battalion. Within a year, he was promoted to company commander and served in that role for three years.

Education and Leadership

Isakov's studies at the Military Academy of Logistics and Transport honed his understanding of logistics in the Russian army. Subsequently, he served as deputy commander for logistics of a tank regiment, deputy chief of staff of logistics, deputy commander of a division for logistics, and deputy commander of a training motorized rifle division.

Afghanistan

In 1984, Isakov was appointed deputy chief of logistics for the 40th Army deployed in Afghanistan. He played a crucial role in organizing a massive supply system, ensuring the delivery of fuel, food, ammunition, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid.

During a combat operation in 1986, Isakov was severely wounded but returned to duty after extensive medical treatment. For his contributions, he was awarded the Order of the Red Banner, two Orders of the Red Star, and the Afghan Order "For Courage."

Military Academy of the General Staff

At the age of 36, Isakov became the youngest student in the history of the Military Academy of the General Staff. He graduated and served in various leadership positions, including deputy army commander for logistics, chief of staff of logistics, and deputy commander of a group of forces for logistics.

Chief of Logistics

In 1997, General of the Army Isakov became Chief of Logistics of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation and Deputy Minister of Defense. He has implemented significant reforms to enhance the efficiency and responsiveness of the logistics system.

Under Isakov's leadership, the Logistics of the Armed Forces has become a well-oiled mechanism, coordinating over 8 million tons of supplies annually. It also provides medical care to over 6 million personnel and their families.

Publications and Contributions

Isakov has authored numerous works on logistics and contributed to the development of a unified interagency logistics system. He has also played a key role in preserving and honoring the history of the Logistics of the Armed Forces, leading to the establishment of the Day of the Logistics of the Armed Forces on August 1st.

Personal Life and Awards

Isakov is married and has two children. His hobbies include military history, theater, billiards, and shooting. In addition to his combat awards, he has received the Order "For Service to the Motherland in the Armed Forces of the USSR," the Order "For Military Merit," and the Honorary Diploma of the Government of the Russian Federation.
